You love your bedding, you spend hours and hours on it.
Comforting in the morning, soothing in the evening, your bed is a living space in its own right between television evenings, Sunday breakfast, sleeping in...
And like any element of your daily life, it needs to be maintained to maintain its efficiency and longevity. Note that a mattress has an estimated lifespan of 10 years depending on its quality and the maintenance received by its owners!

Good ventilation for healthy bedding...
Let's start with the simplest: airing out the bedroom. We recommend opening your bedroom window every day for 10 to 15 minutes, in summer and winter, to allow the mattress to breathe. Every night, a mattress absorbs an average of 50 cl to 1 L of perspiration, mixed with dust; mites and mold can proliferate. The risks increase if you share your bed with your pet. So, don't hesitate, give your mattress a big breath of fresh air for its greatest pleasure. Take advantage of the pleasant temperatures of spring to leave the window open all day, your bedding will be all the better for it.
Always fresh sheets!
Maintaining your bedding involves good hygiene of your sheet, fitted sheet and pillows that are in direct contact with your body. If you take your shower in the morning, wash it every week. If you are more of an evening person, you can space it out every 15 days
Mattress protectors and mattress toppers, really effective?
Every day, your mattress is exposed to perspiration, moisture and dust. A mattress protector, also called a mattress pad, is necessary to protect your mattress. This waterproof cover prevents liquids from penetrating the mattress and absorbs moisture for the best performance. The mattress pad and the fitted sheet on top are essential for keeping your bedding healthy. The mattress topper is a reinforced protection for the mattress because it acts as a second small mattress on top of the first. It thus provides more comfort and allows you to renew your bedding while increasing the lifespan of the mattress underneath. The little extra? The mattress topper is removable and therefore machine washable from time to time. Be careful to follow the instructions on the label!
What about the box spring?

Who says mattress, also says box spring! You can have the cleanest and most cared for mattress, if you do not maintain its faithful companion, the box spring, the cleaning will never be complete. So each month, we advise you to remove the mattress (place it against the wall for example) to air your box spring and vacuum it to remove the dust. With this small monthly gesture, you prevent dust mites from proliferating.
Turn your mattress at least twice a year
Mattresses sag over time and we recommend rotating your mattress at least once every 6 months:
- Your mattress has 1 sleeping side: swap the head area with the foot area and vice versa.
- Your mattress has 2 sleeping sides: change the receiving sides every 6 months and every 3 months swap the head area with the foot area.
With the arrival of memory foam mattresses, this rule applies more for comfort (summer and winter side) and ventilation of the mattress. Indeed, this type of mattress regains its shape once you get out of bed.
You are now up to date on all the routines to put in place to maintain the effectiveness of your bedding and sleep soundly!
