Le linge de lit doit être lavé toutes les 1 à 2 semaines pour maintenir une bonne hygiène et limiter bactéries, acariens et transpiration.

Fréquence recommandée :

  • 1 fois/semaine (idéal) → si transpiration, allergies, animaux ou sommeil sans pyjama
  • tous les 10 à 15 jours → si hygiène stricte (douche le soir, pyjama)

Cas particuliers :

  • maladie → tous les 3 à 5 jours
  • forte transpiration / allergies → plusieurs fois par semaine

  • taies d’oreiller → 1 fois/semaine (voire plus)
  • couette → 2 fois/an

Even if your hygiene is perfect, you shower before going to bed, you air your room and you sleep in pajamas, we recommend that you change your sheets every 10 days at the most. This will prevent the proliferation of bacteria and microbes.


Why should you wash your sheets?

Even though we shower every day, that doesn't mean bacteria don't proliferate in our sheets. Washing your sheets regularly helps eliminate bacteria present in your bed. It also helps maintain your bedding and extend its lifespan! We sweat a liter of water every night and dust mites feed on this sweat, they then multiply quickly.

In addition, mites feed on the dead skin that we shed every day, about 1 mg. This can feed several thousand mites for months.

This is why it is important to change your sheets regularly, especially if you are allergic to the presence of these microbes or if it impacts your health in another way (asthma, rhinitis, eczema, etc.).

Our advice for sleeping well: opt for cotton sheets, because they do not promote perspiration, sleep in a cool and dry place. The opposite of what dust mites like (heat and humidity).


When should you change your bed sheets?

According to a 2014 study in the UK, ⅓ of people wash their sheets once a week, compared to 34% every two weeks, 8% every three weeks, and 10% once a month. The rest of the study went 2 months without washing their sheets.

To know when to change your sheets , it is important to pay attention to your habits. If you wash in the evening, wash your sheets once a week, on the contrary, if you shower in the morning, you have a pet that climbs on your bed, you have allergies, you have recently been sick or you sweat more than average, it is better to wash them twice a week.


At what temperature should you wash your sheets?

As you can see, you need to wash your sheets fairly regularly and this includes choosing the right temperature to wash them: 60°C is the ideal temperature to get rid of germs. Be careful to choose your bed linen carefully and buy sheets that will withstand such a washing temperature.

To maintain your bed linen, remember to renew your sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases every 10 to 15 years.


How often should you wash duvets and pillows?

Regarding your duvets and pillows, the ideal would be to wash them 3 to 4 times a year in order to maintain impeccable hygiene. Duvets and pillows should be machine washed (if the washing label indicates it) at a low temperature (30 or 40° C).

For greater efficiency, you can put one or two tennis balls inside the washing machine to restore fluffiness to your duvets and pillows.

If your pillow or duvet cannot be machine washed, we recommend that you take them to the dry cleaners and wash them less frequently, 1 to 2 times a year.


Protect your bedding

In order to protect your bedding, you will need a mattress protector to effectively protect your mattress. The mattress protector is waterproof and can retain a large amount of liquid for several hours!
The mattress protector also helps retain perspiration, but you will need to wash it once a week.
